Although we have generally been involved in accommodation-based activities, there has always been a desire to reach out and support as many people as possible. Only a small percentage of people with mental health problems live in care home or sheltered accommodation such as the ones provided by Crossways, the majority of people are living their lives as best they can in the community. Crossways is looking and developing ways to help equip the community to become better able to understand and support people.

 

Current ways in which we are developing this are:

Restoration which is working in partnership with local churches. We are currently looking at course material but the idea will be that the churches and local faith groups are enabled to support and meet the needs of their own members.

Mental Health Awareness which is looking to help remove the stigma of mental ill-health in young people and business. The idea is that by encouraging people to listen and accept others
