Residential Care Worker

 

We are looking for a Residential Care Worker to work in our 16-bed care home. The contract will be for a six-month period but the possibility of extending it to a open-ended contract.

Current Staff Gross Pay (including  allowances - see below) is in the range of £16,400 - £22,000

Typical starting Gross Pay (including allowances) is £16,400 - £19,700

 

This is made up of:

 

 

Basic Pay £15,724 - £19,804 (typical range for new staff £15,724 - 17,356).

 

An optional Contributory Pension Scheme is open to all staff after three months employment. Crossways contributes 3.5% for the first nine months of the scheme and 7.5% (up to £1,480 p.a.) of basic pay after a minimum of 12 months employment. Employees must contribute at least 2.5% of their salary.

 

Sleep-in Allowance - £26.30 a shift

 

Weekend/Bank Holiday (additional allowance) £12.60 per shift

 

Pager (on call) allowance £5.65 per shift

 

 

 

Job Requirements: Applicants must be/have the following essential qualities

 

Willing to abide by Crossways Christian Ethos

 

An open and honest person able  to value other people as they are but to also see their potential

 

Flexibility to work day/sleep-in/weekends/evenings/on-call  pager shifts or duties as required

 

Ability to work as part of a team and  alone unsupervised.

 

Ability to handle personal stress.

 

Excellent English verbal & written communication skills competent usage of MS Word and ability to keep accurate and timely electronic and paper records.

 

Ability to undertake a range of  practical skills including cooking, cleaning, DIY etc. 

 

Ability to deal with, prioritise and  plan work (so as to meet deadlines)

 

Mobility: Ability to climb stairs & a full manual Driving  Licence

 

Satisfactory references including an  Enhanced CRB Disclosure & medical reference from your GP

It would be helpful if applicants have the following are desirable qualities:

 

Experience of supporting people with mental health problems and/or working in a care environment.

 

NVQ 2, NVQ3 and knowledge of CPA, care planning etc. Full training and induction will be given. 

 

Experience of working with other agencies and professionals
