Thoughts about Working and Living at Crossways

We are very fortunate to have some creative staff and residents who have felt inspired to record their thoughts about being at Crossways.

We are grateful for all the people who come and shared their lives with us at Crossways either as a resident or a member of staff, volunteer or friend and we believe all our lives are richer for it.

CROSSWAYS

This place of love

Where goading and chiding

Is not the way.

A place of hope

A place of peace,

To quieten the shattered

Nerves of yesterday.

A place of reflection,

A place of God

Where unity is showered upon all.

Where failures and lost dreams

From everyone from time to time must fall.

Christine Jacobs

Since coming to work at Crossways God has continually challenged me to love others with no strings attached. Most of my Christian life has been spent on trying to win people for Christ - I have tried to get them into the Church - not into the Kingdom. Now He is asking me to see things from different angles - different views - “same room - different chair” - this has shown me that by moving position I can focus on different things. Take on board how others see things -so as I carry on serving my Jesus I thank Him that He sees the bigger picture, He has the “room with a view”.

Living and Working Fellowship with Crossways.

Wide and varied as the ocean in my life,

Free and safe in the shadow of the almighty,

Free like an eagle soaring in the height,

The sparkling stream, the crashing wave below.

Childlike, spirit of the mountain and the forest,

Directed by one compass in life’s walk,

The word of God to work, walk and pray,

Feasting at your boundless table of delights.

Boundless life today and into the future,

With lightness of spirit to work, walk and pray,

Supporting and listening, giving real love,

Living and walking with laughter and good company.

Anon. (Support Worker)

Friends

Thank you for friends to share with,

Through life’s joys and sorrows

Through the good times and the bad times

For without friends I would be nothing

Friends who make my life brighter

With music to soothe the soul

And creative art to help me appreciate

All that is good in the world

And books to make me wiser

To accept that your will is best

And my desires are only earthbound

To life me nearer Heaven

With your purity and light

And make me into a true child of God
