Sunny Summer Walk

DSCF5758 blur

Staff and residents took full advantage of the beautiful weather at the very end of April to go for a woodland walk near Rotherfield, followed by afternoon tea at the Blossom & Bean café nearby.

The walk was in Hornshurst Wood just north of Rotherfield village, and the recent dry weather had made the going good. The temperature was perfect in the dappled sunlight and, while some of the group opted for a slightly shorter walk, most of the team were up for the longer 2.3 mile hike, enjoying the company and conversations with people they didn’t necessarily see very often. We were joined by Gambol (labrador) and Mabel (jack russell cross) who also thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The staff at Blossom & Bean made us very welcome with a wide selection of drinks, sandwiches and beautifully presented cakes, all served in the shade of a marquee in their garden area. Other residents who were unable to join the walk were there to meet us, and so we made quite a big but very appreciative crowd.

This was a new type of event for Crossways, but was so successful that we hope to repeat the formula!
